Girls Brigade Support

Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders: Our Support for the Girls' Brigade

At the Norase Foundation, our commitment to nurturing young girls is deeply personal, inspired by the very spirit of our namesake, Norase Tembo Mwale. We believe the Girls' Brigade is one of the most powerful incubators for leadership, character, and faith in Zambia. That's why supporting this vital organization is a cornerstone of our mission.

We don't just admire the Brigade's work—we actively invest in it. Our support is designed to remove barriers and amplify impact, ensuring that every girl who wants to can participate and thrive.

Here’s how we provide concrete support:

1. Enabling Access and Participation

Many girls with the passion and potential to benefit from the Girls' Brigade face simple, yet insurmountable, practical obstacles. We break these down by providing:

  • Sponsorship for Uniforms and Materials: The pride of wearing a uniform and having the right materials for activities should never be a financial burden on a family. We provide full or partial sponsorships to ensure every member feels included and equipped from day one.

  • Covering Activity and Camp Fees: Life-changing experiences like camps, retreats, and special outings are often where the deepest lessons are learned and the strongest bonds are formed. We ensure that no girl misses out due to cost.

2. Enhancing Programs and Resources

We go beyond basic support to help the Girls' Brigade deliver an even richer, more impactful experience.

  • Funding for Community Projects: When a Brigade company wants to run a public health sensitization drive or a local charity initiative, we provide the seed funding for supplies, transportation, and materials, turning their lessons in service into tangible action.

  • Providing Educational Resources: We supply books, craft materials, and modern educational tools that help bring the Brigade's curriculum to life, fostering both spiritual and practical learning.

3. Fostering Leadership and Personal Growth

Inspired by Norase's own journey, we are committed to helping girls discover and refine their unique voices.

  • Leadership Workshops: We organize and fund special workshops focused on public speaking, confidence-building, and project management, giving Brigade girls the tools to become leaders in their communities.

  • Mentorship Bridges: We connect older Brigade girls with mentors from our wider network, providing them with role models who can offer guidance on career paths, personal development, and navigating adolescence.

4. Building a Seamless Support System

Our relationship with the Girls' Brigade is a partnership. We see ourselves as the wind beneath their wings, providing foundational support that allows leaders to focus on what they do best: mentoring girls.

  • Support for Brigade Officers: We recognize that the adult leaders are the backbone of the organization. We may provide resources for their training or small grants to help with the operational costs of running a company, empowering them to be more effective.

Our Shared Vision

By supporting the Girls' Brigade, we are not just funding a program; we are investing in a legacy. We are helping to raise a generation of confident, compassionate, and capable young women who are grounded in faith and committed to service—just like Norase.

This support is a living tribute to her memory and a direct investment in a brighter future for all of Zambia.
